Lion Cubs Foundation

In November 2008 our beloved staff Leone passed away leaving behind 4 of his own children and 4 children his late brother Meli left behind two months earlier.

In addition to the pain and suffering that loosing a father brings these 8 children had lost the person who looked after bringing them food, paying for their school fees, bringing them to see a doctor. We started to think about these issues with Kikau and Sunia, 2 wonderful humanitarians who also happen to be our talented Barman, how can we help these wonderful kids? Can we make a trust to assist them with education and healthcare? Through this thinking session we started to think about how many children from this beautiful island , inhabited by 300 gorgeous native Fijians, were in the same condition.

With those 43 kids, all from broken homes, some have lost their parents, other have been left behind to penniless grandparents, the Lion Cub Foundation was born. The Lion Cubs Foundation was founded by Navutu Stars Resort with Kikau and Sunia as its Trustees, in December 2008, it looks after 43 underprivileged children with healthcare, education and emergencies.

The Foundation started only with a donation from the Resort and is now receiving the help of its guests who every Sunday are able to meet with the Children, the Lion Cubs, who come here for some singing, juice drinking and mingling with the Papalagi, how they call the Foreigner. The children love to be part of a group of an entire and they bring to us their laughter full of joys.

From November 2008 to today each kid has received a full medical check up (with American Doctors part of the Loloma Foundation), school uniforms, school stationary and books, a school bag, toiletries and a monthly ratio of food when their village was affected from the February Flood. Two of our former guests have been organizing fundraisings to help raising money for the Foundation.

Thank you very much
